Un Disastro!

I went down to grab dinner tonight and saw on the menu a choice of poached cod or lasagna. LASAGNA!  A food I hated for most of my childhood because all of the combined textures freaked me out, but now lasagna and I have a mild love affair. I could probably eat enough lasagna to feed a family of six all on my own. The smooth, creamy ricotta mixing with the deliciously seasoned ground beef and zesty magnificently red tomato sauce. Topped with gooey mozzarella and cuddled in layers of the greatest known carbohydrate, pasta. And of course I have to mention things like basil and oregano adding that italian flair.

But no, it wouldn't be that simple, would it?

This lasagna is much like the frozen Irish beef lasagna I purchased on my first night here. Tasty in it's own way but the only thing resembling my long lost love is its construction. So I ask the cook, is this a typical Irish dish, this beef lasagna? And she replies with "No, lasagna is Italian, dear"

Sad day.
